2009 Report

The first edition of the Bruno Grana International Trophy, named in memory of the Italian boss who led the Iame for over 40 years, took place from June 26 to 28 in France, at the foot of the Pyrenees, on the Lavelanet International Circuit. This event was attended by 115 drivers, all with the famous engine IAME X30, a kind of global grand final, in the calendar CIK. Under a blazing sun, the Karting Club du Pays d’Olmes-Mirepoix put the dishes in the main host for the flower drivers for an international meeting very interesting because mixing different nationalities and especially drivers coming from different backgrounds ( KZ125, X30 but KF2 and KF3) for a class currently in full extension. Regrettably, however, that foreigners were not many more including Spanish. But despite the large number of lights, is a Belgian pilot who has emerged with flying colors.

Constantly on the front of the stage including two victories in races, Kenny Vermeylen has to bide his time to allow Tecno win again in a major event. Kenny is no stranger since shines regularly in KF2 in his country, but also in France and internationally. Team driver Eurokarting, dear Thierry Lépine, Lorenzo Donniacuo assured the Belgian doubled, while Nathanael Berthon completed the podium. Former pilot KF1, the current leader of the Formula Renault 2.0 (1 win and 1 podium last month) has found his former team Braun Racing for this race, where he was well pleased in particular winning the pre-final . His dark eyes, with the arrival of the final, hints that he was not entirely satisfied with his performance. Back to John Fourcade, the « Albigeois » Suau Andrea assured the show in the bunch. Author of the pole, the former cadet has successfully taken place and may regret a water hose disconnected who lost big in the final qualifying round. It can however take comfort with the place of honor first « real » X30 driver. Having completed six laps of the final, Benjamin Bie, real amateur, merely the sixth before the Toulouse Anthony « Spy » Delcurou too pure passion for our sport. It will in any case, the merit of having the finest and most vocal fan club weekend. Among the highlights, it should be noted that at the first corner of the pre several favorites including those of the interior line are pushed off the track and lose any chance of victory Bornert (Like last year, the pre - it will be fatal!) Rouchy, Budrino (It will make a beautiful recovered in the final of the 36th to the 13th place despite a painful side) and Janicaud.

Regarding the final X30 Gentlemen (driver 32 years or + 80 kg), Frederic Ostier (Mirage) left only crumbs to the « young » but « heavy » William Desjours (BRM) and Jeremy Delsol ( BRM), full explanation for a place on the podium. Yet we must not forget the author from pole position, Cyril Lefevre who, after winning the pre-final, peered into the place of No. 1. This was without counting on his engine gave up the ghost in the end. The side of the chasing pack, Montandraud and Ait Ouaret make a good comeback in the final while the Portuguese Cadoret progressed throughout the weekend. Note finally abandoned in the final of the Audi dealer of Pamiers Town, fourth of the pre-final, and Michel Philippe, unlucky throughout the weekend. Fortunately he is happy in love...

Finally, in TTI Carbone, Andrea Tonoli played a remake of last year by making a real rider. Author of the pole with a time « astronomical », the Italian track record in hand, expecting a quiet weekend. A problem with the carburetor in turn heat the pre-final will force it to go all the pack before going to rub his compatriot, Samuele Rubino, who held the high hand end of sleeve. In the finals, it was the turn of Amandine Truche who, on his land, keeps pace before going to interfere between the Alps and climb and on the second step of the podium. De Clerck, back in the competition, indicating a strong fourth place, while we note the excellent return of most Italian of French, Emily Dejuniat, which deserves a place in the top 5.

Echoes

Controls

The Lavelanet International Track is probably the most controlled track of France. After a visit from a bailiff and the police on Wednesday for control of noise and that of URSSAF, Thursday, for the fight against illegal employment, it was the turn of the DDASS, the day after the race for control of soil pollution and sewage wastewater. And after that, it is surprising that the circuits do not want to organize more courses...

Animation

As usual, the Karting Club du Pays d’Olmes-Mirepoix had put the dishes in the large to accommodate the small world of X30 and TTI: Arrival of trophies in a microlight, cheerleaders, speaker, music evenings, presentation of old vehicles (Alpine and Gordini), stands with local produce, poster campaign and showcase bus shelters, radio spots, in collaboration with Fun... Nothing was missing!

Attendance

Despite the heat and many celebrations and events organized in the villages surrounding the circuit has been one of his biggest crowds with 5,000 people over the weekend.

Participants

France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece and the USA were represented at this event but it was Belgium who has won the jackpot. Thierry Lepine, the local importer IAME, welcomes yet.

Competition

With nine different brands of chassis (Tecno, DR, FA, Tony, V-Max, Energy, Kosmic, Mirage and Alpha) in the top ten, we can say that this test has proved that the category X30 suits everyone.

VIP

Jade Handi was the guest of the event in the category TTI Carbone. After a difficult leg development, the heroine of the French emission « Survivor » got away with the honors and finished 14th in his first race in karting.

Cass

There have been many breaks in Lavelanet. The heat, combined with strong deposit of rubber on the Ariège track, forced the pilot to use low pressure and the tender trees, magnesium wheels or the famous « light » hubs. So, the slightest impact against a curb or drop competition leads almost automatically. And it does not count the number of wheel-loving freedom!

Odds

They have suffered throughout the weekend because of the grip of the track. The pilot, unaccustomed, had to dip into their reserves. So, osteopaths of the ITO had a lot of work with a spike in traffic on Saturday and Sunday at lunchtime.

Chance

Only injured the weekend, the Belgian Kenny Debaeremaecker could not participate in the finals because... a broken finger. So, Julien Madau, first non-qualified, has inherited a place in the final. Good player, he has not hesitated to label its pontoons, the name and colors... from his « benefactor ».
