Despite unpredictable weather, there were many people on the Lavelanet track, 12 and 13 June, but a big level at the second edition of the Bruno Grana X30 International Trophy. Just take a look at the lists of finalists to understand that the show was at the rendezvous to the delight of IAME-Parilla importers, Alpha Karting and Cedinap and KCPOM, the famous club of the President Sanchez.
With a win in five qualifications in addition to the pole position, Kenny Vermeylen, defending champion, was the archi-favorite status before the final phase. Concentrate on his driving very pure, the Belgian team did not disappoint either, nor Sylvain Boisramé (Book Competition) and won his mechanic, master hand, the pre-final and finals without actually being put into difficulty. It must be said that his main opponent, the pilot of Team France, Enzo Guibbert, only to follow the fast-paced pilot Tecno past two days, was eliminated early in the pre-final after a collision caused by Jeoffrey Rouchy. An incident that will delay and the two fast Spanish Team Spacial Motor Sport, and Manuel Yanez Ignacio Calero Bejaramo Campos. Suddenly, the chasing pack in the finals were Steven Lesca, led for several laps and Anthony Cost winded whose departure caused the loss of another pretender to the podium, the Belgian Debaeremaecker, Hughes of the Australian , impressive throughout the weekend on the Alpha chassis and French Loïc Verrier remaining on the tile at the first turn. Finally, it is up to Andrea Pizzitola that the last place on the podium after a weekend smoothly conducted. From Montpellier, which participates in parallel with the Clio Cup, finally signed a performance of the first rank. Note the excellent progress during the weekend of Giacomo Napolitano who fails at the foot of the podium, the outbreak of talent Cedric Magnet, the overall performance of Laetitia Lacrique, 13th at the end of the sleeves and the beautiful 8th place in Carcassonne Thomas Gilbert whose talent is inversely proportional to its financial means. On the side of unskilled Delcurou Anthony won the cup in the city ahead of Nicolas Amiel, so unlucky in the sleeves and Arnaud Cohen.
Incisive, fair, hardworking but also friendly and always smiling, Lee Mitchener has been the revelation of the weekend. Coming directly from Melbourne, the Australian, Champion 2010 "Heavy" in his country, has made steady progress in free practice before the finals to win brilliantly. Glued to his bumper, Frederick Ostier, winner of one of three races and probably a little faster, however, is never able to find the flaw in the final, beating Remy Provost, slightly lifted. The American Billy Lewis, winner of the 2010 IAME Cup Championship, finished off the podium and may regret his "small" error in the prefinal who drove down from 3rd to 12th position. This pre-final, just, let's talk about because a small downpour fell on the path Ariégeois during the first quarter of the race. The discreet but friendly, Gilles Duprat, grid courtesy to all his friends, wins ... with a half-circuit feed to the applause of the audience and knows his hour of glory. Note that it was the only one left in wet tyres ! The gamble ultimately proved a masterstroke. The driver eventually finished 12th in Lavelanet the final. Lallemand, Ait-Ouaret, Michon, Montandraud wich gleans 15 places in final, 'll be reported over the week-end as the American, Jim Russell Jr, third in the prefinal and struggled to adapt to French tire, much softer than those used in the United States.
The Thursday before the race, James, Yannick, Anthony and Kevin, along with Jean-Francois, their teacher, have worked to give the circuit, his suit of lights. These four young people from the Institute of Medico-social Vergnière benefited from the continued partnership between the Karting Club du Pay d'Olmes-Mirepoix and the institute to participate in their own way, in this great race. Every Thursday morning since the beginning of the year, youth participate in the maintenance of the site before spending their afternoon ... refine their knowledge of driving. Exceptionally, June 10, they have not been allowed to ride.
In true spirit of American racing competition, the winner of each category (X30 and Gentlemen) is left with a beautiful Tag Heuer watch. On the reverse, glass was engraved with the colors of the race.
It has caused some additional white hair to Olivier Cèbe, a volunteer from the circuit. The dark clouds that hovered around the circuit for the past three days have decided to "let go" their packages on Friday night and Sunday morning, amid the prefinal of Gentlemen. So, it was not easy to implement animations in the afternoon (Presentation of the drivers on the red carpet, testing the X30 Shifter, photos by country, pom-poms girls ...). Finally, the rain came thirty minutes after the last race...
After its debut in France, the Challenge X30 root, little by little, on every continent on the strength of the commercial service of the IAME but also because this engine is a real expectation on the part of the drivers. Suddenly, the Bruno Grana International Trophy is becoming a little more every year. In Lavelanet, six Americans, two Australians and two women have left their first country to compete in this event. Contacts were made with Finland and Hungary. It was also announced for next year, drivers from South America and Asia.
La Depeche du Midi, which devoted two pages of the newspaper, but also France 3, Fun Radio and many websites have covered the event. But the unexpected victory of Lee Mitchener has had an effect even more unexpected since "Kart X", the Australian Kart Mag did not hesitate to upset its pagination and devoted 8 pages to the International Trophy Bruno Grana in its latest issue.
Luciano Remo, IAME importer in Australia, who accompanied his two drivers in Ariège, conducted during the weekend and with the complicity of his wife back home, a blog about their adventures. The result is simply awesome and available at the following address: www.remoracing.com
